Holding.
I am drawn to a vessel’s capacity to receive. Its outline establishes an interior; its opening keeps it connected to the world. Yellow gathers beside this form and makes its edges permeable, as though light could belong equally to the object and its surroundings.
In this simple reference I find an image of receptivity. What can I receive without losing myself in it? How much room can I make for a feeling? Red and blue sustain movement around the vessel. It offers temporary shelter, a form in which something can stay and from which it can leave.
Colour and material
The vessel-like form offers a figurative landmark in an unstable colour field. Permeable edges let the object belong simultaneously to foreground and atmosphere.
