What I keep, even unreconciled.
My memories have different consistencies. Some retain an order; others only a colour or rhythm. The bands of this painting give them different places: open surfaces, knots of marks, intervals where something seems erased. A returning, changing line holds them together.
I am interested in carrying experiences that still contradict one another. One layer stays beside another and changes its edge without making it disappear. In this adjacency I find continuity. Who I am today includes traces I cannot arrange into a single story.
Colour and material
Depth is replaced by successive bands of colour and drawing. Each layer has its own rhythm; continuity arises from the recurring undulating line.
